Objects, images, stories, songs and films offer visitors an exciting and incredible journey through the history and culture of arbëreshe: from the techniques used to work brooms, to everyday objects, clothes, songs.
The museum is a living organism connected to the community residing in Pollino National Park but also to the whole Arbëreshe communities present in Italy; it’s a place that reeks of traditional values, an evocative picture of the past told with the help of technology.
It’s the territory and its rural landscape; it’s the burg and its structure; it’s the community and its culture; it is a chest of memories and a laboratory of the future.
The museum is more than a place, it represents a way of thinking when it comes to preserving, protecting, endorsing, promoting the cultural, territorial, social and economic identity of the Arbëreshe community of San Paolo Albanese; it is the instrument through which a new culture comes to life. Amongst the objects gathered in the museum there are: tools for domestic and working life of the arbëreshe community, tools that served to work broom, from harvesting to the making of fabrics.
